Expertos Evaluadores

What does it mean to be an Evaluator for the European Commission?

If you want to expand your possibilities to get a European Project, or you just want to be part of the evaluating committee, do not hesitate to sign up as an expert evaluator.

Being an expert evaluator of Horizon 2020 project proposals allows you to know in a more direct way the requirements that a proposal must meet to become a European project.

Being an expert evaluator is characterized by:

  • It is a personal work, it is not acting on behalf of any organization or country.
  • It requires a punctual dedication (7-10 days) and is very well paid.
  • Two evaluation modalities are generally used: remote and face-to-face.
  • There is a small percentage of evaluators from the company.
  • Gender balance in the evaluations (40% women in the panels), while in the databases there are only 15% women.
  • In Horizon 2020, more than 5,000 experts are employed per year, with a “reasonable distribution of geographical areas”

And if you are also interested in presenting European projects, there are also other benefits such as:

  • Possibility of knowing first-hand the latest advances in the different areas of knowledge.
  • Learn the structure and content of successful European proposals.
  • The professional exchange between evaluators.
  • Possibility of establishing contacts with officials of the European Commission and becoming familiar with their procedures.

A short general briefing for the new experts is presented below, where the role of evaluators is explained in detail as well as the evaluation processes in the European Union.
